Putting the Fun in Functional for Occupational Therapy!

My Project

In Occupational therapy, we focus on developing fine and visual motor skills, (pre)handwriting skills, and (pre)scissor skills to better their success in the school setting. These supplies will benefit my students tremendously. We are currently limited on the crafts/projects we can do due to a short supply. They love exploring new things with their hands. Which is why we love sensory bins and other crafts to get their hands dirty. Just having glue bottles, carpet tape, and the other school supplies can open a wide variety of projects to complete that will keep the students be more engaged in the session which is of course always a win!

Having more organizational bins and carts will help the classroom feel calmer and cleaner.

Some of the students on our caseload have ADHD or just get easily distracted as most kids tend to do. Also, we tend to see kids from all different ages which means we have many different projects right after another. So, having bins to organize each project and carts to help me roll supplies around to each classroom will help greatly. The students will be able to see what they are doing when they walk into the room and be more engaged in the session rather than seeing all the other fun toys and just walking around aimlessly. Plus it doesn't hurt that it helps with my mental health as well not having to look at random papers sitting around everywhere!
