Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students generally come from low-income families that live around the school neighborhood located in the Southeast area of San Diego. Most of my students are African Americans and Latinos, followed by students from the Pacific Islands or Asian backgrounds. Our school is a unique place. The school has a great percentage of students with special needs. Therefore, our school needs to be equipped with technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that would guarantee that all students have what they need to learn and succeed adequately.

My Project

A small group of students in my eighth grade class love to draw Japanese characters. As a reward for their academic efforts in class, I will give them sketch books, pens, and a guide to draw their favorite characters. It is my personal goal to incorporate the Arts in my students' STEM education, and make it holistic as STEAM education...the way it was previously intended.

My students will be happy to receive the sketch drawing books, the drawing guide, and the special art pens.

These art tools are all they need for now in order to practice and create their masterpieces.
