This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, loving, hardworking students like most middle school students. They come from many different backgrounds and most qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are very exited to come to school because of the opportunities that they are given in their elective classes. Most of the students do not have the resources at home to do extracurricular activities.
When given the opportunity to show their creative side my students thrive!
They love to use their imaginations and create because it shows who they are as an individual. Middle school is definitely a time that they want to shine.
My Project
My students need art supplies to take our elective from just Science, Technology and Engineering to the new and improved STEAM. Art is an area that schools have taken out because of budget cuts and reduced staffing so we are trying really hard to put it back into the middle school classes. They need exposure to Art to be able to tap into their creative side and express themselves.
We are going to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary.
Adding art to both my math class and my STEM class will increase student engagement and make them want to learn. I am so excited that I will be able to bring ART back into the middle school classroom!
