Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students include children that are English Language Learners, Students with Disabilities and general education students. We are a Title 1 school in the South Bronx, New York City. My students are Bronx strong having endured a disproportionate amount of loss of life and economy from the pandemic.
My Project
Real world experiences inside the classroom that highlight student voice and student choice are shown to have a greater impact than simple projects. Creating a student made, student driven mural will allow students to think and work like artists in a creative, collaborative environment. Our schools exterior walls are just waiting for students to leave their artistic mark. The only missing piece is the right paint for the job. Mural paint will allow students in each art class to work collaboratively to create a lasting piece of public art and lifelong memories.
