Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My true test as a teacher is where my students are in twenty years. In twenty years I want my students to not only be equipped with the knowledge but to also be equipped with the communication skills, problem-solving skills, and empathy that will allow them to accomplish their goals.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world." Each day we work to prepare ourselves for college and beyond.
Our school is composed of many students who will be the first in their family to graduate from university. Ninety percent or more of our students are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. Over 50% of our students are considered English Language Learners. My kids call themselves a family and we know with hard work and a Si Se Puede attitude we will meet our goals.
We are change agents in our community. We are advocates for our community. Our love and knowledge will create change for our community, our family and ourselves.
My Project
The use of technology is almost a daily activity in our school and classrooms. Using the Innovator's mindset, students in grades 5-6 will have the opportunity to solve real world problems while learning about the world around them. The IPAD and Apple Pencil allow my students to design projects and create artwork that exhibit our school values of love, reflection, excellence, ganas and advocacy. In order to compete in the global market, my students need access to different types of technology. By having the IPAD tablet, students will be able to use it to connect to our 3D printer as well as our sphero robots as well as other programs to develop their ability to innovate. Students will use the materials each week during the community building time.
By donating to our project, you will not only help provide access to technology and innovation, but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to work in groups to design, strategize, test, refine and measure their projects against the intended goals. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
