Twenty years ago, when I first started teaching, I had the students at the end of the year write letters to the new group of students. At the end of the day, I was reading a few, and one student wrote,"You think this class will be fun, but it's not." Oh, my gosh! My heart sank.
Since that day, I have always tried to put something fun or funny in every class experience because it has been proven that teenagers pay attention when its new and novel or if it's fun!
I have a Bubble Gum Machine that they get to spin for right answers on their birthday. I stay up on all the games, Kahoot and Jeopardy to name a few. I wanted to add buzzers in my class this year and during Yearbook Week, I'd like my staff to make Friendship bracelets for each other. I spray uplifting, positive messages around the school using the stencils and spray chalk throughout the year, as well as promotional messages for Yearbook.
