My Students
Our school focuses on creating a nurturing, safe and professional environment that supports educational success as well as the social, emotional and physical development of all students. We work to build trust, establish relationships, and are attentive to the educational, cultural, and physical needs of our students.
I am a special education teacher whose goal is to create a warm classroom environment, conducive to learning and fostering their social-emotional growth.
We are aware that no two students learn the same way, and that their all unique, and that's what makes them so special. They're more than just test scores, they're future doctors, lawyers, politicians. The possibilities are endless, as long as they continue to believe in themselves as much as I do.
My Project
It is no secret that most children hate to read, thus impeding their progress academically. A subscription to Time for Kids would expose my students to non-fiction texts way before the state tests! I'm hoping that once they familiarize themselves with non-fiction texts, they will become engaged, rather than withdrawn. We have a limited number of resources, and I believe that it is important that all students be given the chance to succeed.
A document camera would also be beneficial to my classroom because it would allow me to model certain skills and concepts that can be viewed as complex.
