My Students
My students are rockstars. I teach students in Kindergarten to 8th grade the beauty and power of math. Most of my students come from a challenging situations - a low socioeconomic background, being raised by extended family members, inadequate housing, and academic hardships. One thing they all have in common is that they love coming to school.
Our staff works diligently every day to provide our kiddos with a safe and nurturing environment where students are held to high expectations, both academically and socially.
Watching their growth is one of the greatest joys. It has been an honor to help these kids believe in themselves - whether that means raising a hand in class, getting up to speak in front of a group, or taking the lead in group projects.
My Project
Having access to hands-on math tools increases student engagement and learning. These manipulatives will allow us to explore math concepts in different ways. Students can practice their skills by building, playing games, and making connections to real-world applications.
My students need tangible items to help them grasp math concepts.
These items will help with basic counting, mathematical operations, geometry and even algebra. We are hoping to receive Rekenreks, dominoes, geometric solids with nets and place value coins.
Putting math directly into their hands is essential to their conceptual math growth. Gone are the days where there is only one way to learn a concept.
