Put it on the Shelf!

My students need extra storage space. Since we use tables for group thinking, we don't have the storage space from desks. Extra storage will help my students be organized.

My Students

Do you remember walking into a teacher's classroom for the first time and its being unorganized? This year will not be that year for us! The storage crates will help us keep our classroom neat and tidy. Organized rooms help us learn in a calm and inviting place!

My students are a wonderful group of kids!

We live in a small rural town in Oregon that has a lot of poverty. Most of my students come from low income families, and this can really impact their learning at times. Though school may be really tough for some of my students, I have yet to meet a student who didn't want to learn! These kids want to learn and it is my job to help them do just that. In our class we work hard and it shows! The students love to show off what they know and they are in love with getting the results!

My Project

Often times my students come from very disorganized and disheveled homes. This usually leads to a very stressed out and frustrated child. For many of our students, school is one of the best places for them. Having a classroom that is very organized helps students in many ways. It provides safety and comfort for them in the classroom. Providing ways for them to be organized will also help them learn how to organize other pieces in their lives. Providing organizational tools for my students will help them learn a lifelong skill that does not always come naturally for them! The storage containers will help students keep their own materials organized! It will also provide these students with a sense of ownership to be able to keep all their materials in a very specific place. An organized spot helps organize the mind!

Organization does not come naturally for all people.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced in teaching is helping my students become organized. Now, every person has a different way to organize their materials, but where did they get it from? Most were taught these various ways to keep themselves organized! In situations where students are not taught these skills, I need to help them get organized! Storage containers for each child will give them the chance to get and stay organized.
