My students need 2 micropipettors to allow my students to do professional level laboratory science in the classroom.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wylie's classroom raised $551

My Students
Biotechnology is essential to almost all careers in the life sciences. Having the opportunity to learn technical science skills in high school is motivating to all students because they can see that there is an application to the tremendous amount of content in biology.
My students attend a college preparatory, comprehensive public charter high school in a low socioeconomic area.
Upon graduation, all students will meet or exceed the admission requirements to the state college and university system. My biotechnology curriculum highlights the job opportunities for all students interested in the life sciences. Students don't need a M.S. or a Ph.D. to work in science; if they enjoy the lab skills and have interest in the content, they can have a career in science with a bachelor's degree.
My Project
With a lab apron, goggles and a pipettor in hand any student can envision a future as a professional. Whether or not they are interested in a career science, the experience of learning and doing lab skills instills a confidence that they may be hard pressed to find elsewhere in their academic careers.
These pipettors will allow more groups of students to get hands on time in the lab.
As I build my class set of biotechnology equipment I hope that more students can have the opportunity to see the possibility in their our futures!
