My Students

I teach full-day Kindergarten in an Oklahoma school that values learning through the multiple intelligences. The students in my classroom come from a variety of social, academic, and economic backgrounds. In spite of our differences, we are building a classroom community that embraces each member as we grow and develop.

It is important to me that children leave with a community that values their own growth and learning, while understanding that we are all better when we learn firsthand from others and their experiences as they impact our own.

My Project

Our learning throughout the year is integrated across subject areas. Our school values the arts and often times our learning is visible in the hallway through the visual arts. Throughout the year, we also assemble individual portfolios to help capture the growth and learning during a child's Kindergarten year. Portfolios are cherished by children and adults alike!

Publishing children's artwork both in the hallway and in portfolios sends a message that their learning and growth through the year is important. It instills confidence in each child and makes them feel valued by their peers. How will you pour love into our heARTs this year?
