Do you remember being in the lunchroom and talking with your friends? You may have told jokes or stories to make your friends laugh. My students need help to make these simple childhood memories.
My students come from varying backgrounds and have varying abilities, but they all have one thing in common, they love to be part of the gang.
They attend a public school and participate in some of the day with their peers. When they are with their peers my students like to tell jokes, talk about what they did last night, and all of the other things kids love to discuss. The only thing standing in their way is that they have very little to no oral communication skills.
My Project
Using the Talk Block or Talk Point my students will be able to ask their peers questions, make them laugh by telling a joke and just act like a kid! They will also be able to use the Talk Blocks to survey others and communicate various other things. This will help my students become part of the gang and gain a sense of independence at the same time.
