Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My pre-kindergarten to first grade students live in poverty and are almost entirely Hispanic. Seventy percent of the students are English Language Learners who will need to transition to English by third or fourth grade. Our youngest students need to love reading first in Spanish and then in English. We are always looking for resources that will facilitate that love.
Most of the families are from the local neighborhood and the parents are working.
Sometimes there are a lot of people living in their apartments and trailers.
My Project
This delightful puppet set for STEAM reading will help our early readers to become better engaged in the excitement of the characters and stories. At the same time, the students will become more interested in STEM topics as well as the performing arts.
The students will be inspired by the puppets and books to read actively and interact with their classmates.
This improvement in active literacy will affect all academic activities.
In addition, this resource will appeal to those students who may need a dramatic opportunity to participate in class. The resource will therefore contribute towards a good classroom management.
