My Students
Imagine trying to teach a room full of 4-5 year old students who all come from different backgrounds and experiences. In my years of teaching, I have learned to laugh and enjoy every minute of my day. My students are fun, expressive children who come from all types of social and economic backgrounds.
They love games and anything that allows them to move.
I try to plan lessons that are engaging, interactive, and hands-on to keep them interested and excited about learning.
My Project
My students will use these "Let's Talk" Kid Puppets to gain essential life skills through role playing conversations and retelling stories. They can act out events in their own lives to gain clarity and acceptance. It is often easier for children to talk about situations and events in a "pretend" setting rather than a real conversation.
It is important for children to see commonality with themselves in the dolls and puppets in their surroundings.
Having materials of different skin color and nationality available to children creates a sense of belonging. It also shows children the likeness and differences they have with their friends.
