Pupals Students Share Their Voices!

Help me give my students in my PUPALS program a voice! I would love to provide my nonverbal, middle school students with access to an assistive technology device to assure that they always have a voice.

My Project

The nonverbal students in my middle school PUPALS program have a wide variety of skills, but often those skills can be hard to determine because they have limited expressive communication. If these students do not have a consistent means for communicating throughout the school day, they are highly isolated from the adults and peers in their environment. The students in my PUPALS classroom are some of the sweetest and most resilient students on campus. Despite their many challenges, they show up each day with a smile on their face and a willingness to learn.

These iPads will be used as speech-generating devices so that nonverbal students can make requests throughout the day such as "I need a snack, I need the bathroom, I need a break." These iPads will open up so many opportunities for these very deserving students to share their voices!
