Help me give my students art! With the stressors of today I am on a mission to help my students cope and manage their anxiety and lack of fine motor skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are requesting punch needling tools to help with anxiety and developing fine motor skills. The students in my classroom are stressed for any given reason. They want to skills that produce a product.
So, at their request they would like to address the anxiety by learning a new skills with the fiber arts.
We would like to create a fiber arts center in our classroom because we love project bases learning and art. The fiber arts center includes materials to punch needle, knit on a loom, sewing and felting. With this project we will start our journey with punch needling because of the ease and repetitive motion, attention to detail, focus, and fine motor skills. Students will be able to work on their punch needling is small groups, as a brain break, or when they are having difficulty with social emotional issues to refocus their mindset and manage their anxiety, while at the same time gaining control over their fine motor skills.
