This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To encourage family connection, and promote literacy at our school, we do a yearly pumpkin decorating project called the Pumpkin Extravaganza. Where students decorate a pumpkin using craft materials to look like their favorite book or book character. However, not all of our families have the materials needed to participate, many our families are newcomers/immigrants to our country and have limited means for these types of projects. Yet, we want these families to feel connected to our school and community!

By donating we will use these supplies to create family decorating kit, to send home with a pumpkin, so that all families have the opportunity to showcase their work in our library, all while promoting reading, family time and school connection.
