This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In sociology and psychology we engage with a lot of dense and complex topics. Having the tools to break it down, play, draw, and create will provide more and varied ways for students to learn and demonstrate their knowledge. Concept dioramas, clay constructs of the brain, interactive notebooks, posters, whiteboard games, and more will be accessed through these resources.

In my classroom we utilize our notebooks every day as a place to collect and store our thinking, and to later review and process our learning, as well as for a study resource.

Notebooks, paper materials, and glue all assist in making these notebooks the most they can be. Our classroom walls are often wallpapered in student created anchor charts (posters of key learning) or just posters about their discoveries. These collaborative materials get kids talking, thinking, and serve as daily reminders of understandings.

Recently I learned about using random toys for temporary vocab and concept dioramas. The goal is actually to get kids talking and writing, but the processing of arranging and designing the diorama really gets students thinking about the vocabulary and concepts that are essential to Psychology and Sociology as disciplines.
