My Students
I get the pleasure of working with a broad spectrum of students. I teach special education along with credit recovery for any student needing to make up credits. My students learn to shine in my classroom and become successful where they have struggled in others. I love their individuality and seeing students who come from diverse and difficult backgrounds find a place they belong and where they create the person they want to be as an adult. My students are able to create positive connections in my room and feel safe. They share their stories and know they can ask for help anytime with no judgment. I often have to provide snacks and drinks to my students during the day and refer them for resources when needed. They truly make me a great teacher who loves her job.
My Project
As I teach a variety of students the needs for each group is different. My special needs students need hands on activities to support the foundations of learning through games and performing tasks in the nontraditional sense. My students often lack the basic items they need to be successful at school so I have chosen ways to provide them with pencils, organizational items, and games to help them differentiate their learning. I also provide snacks and meals to those that come to me hungry and your donation will allow me to continue to support my students in any way that they need. Many of my students have to walk to school and when it is cold, I provide them with warm drinks. The use of the Keurig and drinks will help me to provide them a way to start their morning on a positive note and be ready to learn in their classrooms.
