This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach math to young mathematicians in high school. These students come with various needs met with the desire to have and enjoy their learning experience. Their charisma, passion, and dedication to learning encourage me to provide my students with the best high school mathematics experience I can. My mathematics team and I are dedicated to providing students reading and writing opportunities in the mathematics classroom. Although most students come from low-income homes, that does not stop their urge to learn and be creative. My students participate in various clubs and activities willingly in enrichment and/or remediation. My students all look forward to gaining all the knowledge they can as so that they can move on to their next step in life after high school and be successful in College.
My Project
Our school is a Title I school where over 75 % of our students over are unable to afford supplies. Providing these materials provides my students with the basic needs for success in school. Students will be exposed to the rigor of math and prepare for careers in STEAM. With their Notebooks and pencils, students can effectively take notes, summarize, and self assess their learning. The folders allow students to create portfolios of their work that includes homework, projects, journals and essays (Yes! Essays in Math).
