Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a small Title I high school located in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, NY. We are located in "Asthma Alley," and sandwiched between two major urban bridges - the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.
All of my students are recent arrivals to the United States and English language learners.
They come from every part of the globe seeking a new life of opportunity and freedom here in the United States. They come with the hope that education will allow them to meet their full potential.
Many are on public assistance; many others are barely surviving. Yet, my students are expected to meet the same educational standards as more affluent students of New York.
My Project
COVID-19 has changed the way we teach and the way we learn.
Our students need access to different platforms, both in class and remote to learn and grow, and meet their changing needs due to COVID-19.
As teachers, we must be prepared for any eventuality- including full in-class, hybrid classrooms, and all remote teaching situations.
Until this pandemic is behind us, we must anticipate that some students may have to stay remote at some time during this school year. Study.com will give us another way to offer meaningful lessons to any student, in all contingencies.
