My Students

Hello! I am a third-year teacher and every day I get to work with the most amazing kids I have ever met. Many of my students live in poverty and they all receive free breakfast and lunch. To them, books and school supplies are a luxury. Our students work hard and face many personal challenges on a daily basis that impacts their ability to learn. I also work with many bilingual students, some who were even affected by the hurricanes in Puerto Rico two years ago.

As a Reading Specialist, I work with the most struggling readers in grades K-3.

My students are so limited in what they know and have been exposed to that I need to quickly boost them to an emergent reader level. Reading affects all school subjects. By empowering my students with the gift of reading, I hope to help make them successful in all aspects of their education.

My Project

As we enter the fourth month of school, my classroom is starting to run low on basic classroom supplies that we use every day. These school supplies were primarily funded by myself in the beginning of the year so my students and I would greatly appreciate any help we can get! The supplies we are wishing for are basic supplies needed for each student to have ore dry erase markers, pens for correcting their own writing, chart paper and scissors.

Since many of my students come from high poverty situations or broken homes, the supplies will help them throughout the rest of the year without families having to worry about the stress of buying school supplies.
