Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and enthusiastic students! We are in a kinder/1st grade combo Korean bilingual class where students learn from each other and grow together as a community. The majority of my students are English Language Learners with a lot of great ideas and endless potential. They come from hard-working families and bring values and assets to our classroom.

Our school is a Title I school and 88% of the families in our school are Socioeconomically Disadvantaged.

I hope to provide resources that inspire classroom engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity! Many of my students will just be beginning or have started their educational journey. I hope to spark a passion for learning for each child and provide a safe space for them.

My Project

The materials I chose for my project were carefully selected in order to provide students with the safe, clean, and organized learning environment. My classroom does not have enough lighting which makes parts of the classroom darker. Floor lamps will provide lighting to the classroom library where students can read the books without hurting their eyesight.

I want my students to feel safe and comforted in my class, because they may not always feel that way outside the classroom.

The remaining items such as the play mat, carpet cleaner, bean bag, etc. are to create a space where my students can go to relax, read, or do independent work. I am planning to clean the carpet and the mats every week with the cleaner since those are where my students will spend the most of their time and often they get dirty easily.

Our school is working hard on creating inviting environments for students to be self-directed learners. Various organizational supplies will allow students to be responsible and respectful of the school supplies and to take care of them without clutter.
