Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a School Psychologist in a district that serves free/reduced lunch services to all our students. I serve K-12th graders doing both evaluations for specialized services and providing mental health counseling services. I service 4 different school sites in my district.

My students are typically the ones deemed 'most in need' due to academic, behavioral, and/or mental health struggles.

Given the uncertainties that have taken place over the last several months, as well as those that continue as we begin school with distance learning, I imagine the number of students I see will be increasing this year.

My Project

"Follow the plan. A special education IEP is a detailed guide of the tools and assistance necessary to ensure a child reaches their excellence." -SpecialEdResources.com

Seeing the School Psychologist should never be frightening, especially to a student or their families.

I am here to help! Whether it is for a learning concern, a behavioral mishap, anxiety with all of the new rules and changes for the year with distance learning, a friendship problem, or any other difficulty getting in the way of learning, I want to be ready to see my students as safely as possible.

As a school psychologist, I am responsible for assisting parents and staff in obtaining and providing the special education services students need. To make this happen, I must have the ability to print and complete legal documents related to their services and their assessments in reading, writing, speaking, and in math concepts such as number and money.

A printer will allow me to print and share the documents that are essential for the services of my special education students, both to their families and parents. It is essential for keeping services and supports up to date, as well as for families to feel a part of the educational process!
