My Project

Desk Pets have been the best motivator I have used in fifteen years of teaching! Desk Pets are miniature erasers that my students collect, and are part of our positive behavior support program in my classroom. We love having a variety to choose from!

At the beginning of each school year, students get a home for their desk pets, and as the year progresses, they earn pets for positive classroom behavior, such as participating and helping others!

They keep them in their desks, and the absolutely love taking them out, counting them, sorting them, and playing with them when they have free time!

Desk pets are a great behavior support, because they are so positive! There is no negative consequences with this program; when students see their peers get a desk pet for a certain behavior, they model that behavior! It is easy to find something positive that every student is doing daily so their collection can grow!
