Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Thanks to the generosity of various donors our class project of acquiring iPad 2's to assist my students in becoming financially literate became a reality! All we need now are iPad covers to protect the generous donor's investment and for this WE NEED YOUR HELP! We also need a wireless speaker.

My students are English Language Learners attending a public school in California.

Our school is a Title 1 school and the majority of the students qualify for free lunch. They come from low income families where both parents work in order to maintain their household. Since they are English Language Learners they need as many visual aides and interactions when learning as possible to make their learning more meaningful and comprehensible. Unfortunately, at home my students don't have technological access due to economic hardships. The only place they are able to access technology is at school and our school is limited due to severe budget cuts. In fact, we have an old MAC computer that freezes every time my students try to access educational websites or any website for that matter.

My Project

My students need the iPad covers in order to protect the iPads that will be teaching them how to count, add, and identify money. It is very important that these iPads have protective covers that will resist the impact caused in case an iPad slips out of a student's small hands while they are transporting them from one place to another. If an iPad is damaged my students' path towards financial literacy will also be damaged. My students also need a wireless speaker in order to be able to hear clearly when I explain the different applications and websites they will be accessing independently in order to learn to identify, count, and add and subtract money. As well as, when I teach them how to access websites that will teach them to spend responsibly and save.

With your kind and generous donations my students will be able to enjoy and take advantage for many years to come of PROTECTED iPads that will lead them to financial literacy instantly.

They will also be able to hear and understand clearly when I present the various websites they will be accessing to become financially literate. Please help us protect our iPads by donating the much needed covers and please help my students hear information being presented to them via the iPads with a speaker.
