My Students

Protecting our environment isn't just a feel good idea; it's critical to our future.

My students are enthusiastic fourth and fifth graders in a highly capable program.

They are natural leaders and feel passionately about protecting our environment. This year they took on the challenge of turning our elementary school into a green school. They conducted a waste audit, taught lessons in the classrooms, designed t-shirts, started their own worm bin, made public service videos, and started recycling in our lunchroom. My students would like to continue to build on what they started this year.

My Project

Because many teachers and students still lack the background information on environmental issues, we would like 35 copies of the book, "Why Should I Bother About the Planet." This easy to read, colorful text will give students and teachers the needed background information on protecting our environment.

Teachers are always looking for nonfiction books to read together in the classroom.

This school set will be available for all teachers to borrow and use to teach not only about our environment, but also about nonfiction text features.
