This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are part of a community that is impoverished and underprivileged. 100% of them receive free lunch due to their economic status and about 70% of them are learning English for the first time. They come from hard-working families that value education and look forward to a brighter future for their kids- but they depend on the teachers to show them how to get there. Parents and school personnel share a consuming passion of making and reaching goals by working together for our children.
My Project
Our students really enjoy using technology in the classroom during the week for math practice and literacy challenges. That's why we want to protect the investment we've made into our room so our materials can last for many years. This project will provide high quality storage bags for our headphones. We were able to get a class set of headphones this year, but are currently storing them in plastic ziploc bags. This leaves our headphones unprotected, vulnerable, and quite messy. The cords are frequently tangled and twisted (even with lots of training and practice) and they are kept in a tub. In the past, I've had to replace 4-6 headphones a year because of unfit storage options.
