Protecting and Promoting Photographic Growth

My Students

We are public charter school that accepts students, grades 6-12, through an open enrollment process. Students are not charged tuition. Our students come from all demographics with diverse interests. These incredible students are academically driven, creatively inspired and motivated to overcome challenges regarding their education choices. Our curriculum is college preparatory focused which encourages the development of lifelong learners and prepares them to continued their education even after high school.

Each student has a story and use photography to share their truth.

No two people have the same experience, nor do they see the world with the same perspective. My students celebrate what brings them together as well as sets them apart. Photography is their tool to engage with the world around them. My classroom covers both digital and film photography skills. Students learn about exposure, how to process film, print in the darkroom, as well as digital editing and studio lighting.

My Project

These materials will support my students as they build a strong workflow and responsible practices. Their work varies from darkroom masterpieces to digital explorations. My students have the freedom to tell their story and share their experiences through photography. I want to ensure these creations and memories last for many years, not to mention survive the day to day life inside a teenager’s backpack. I know how hard they work to plan and handcraft their portfolios and I want to aid them as they continue to grow with their expression. Protective sleeves and binders will be supply protection for film and prints. Reliable card readers and headphones will give access to digital photography and tutorials. Studio lighting will prepare them for future careers.

My students will use these resources to protect, build and, grow a portfolio that will propel them into their future creative endeavors.
