Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Twenty minutes before the school bell rings, I get four to five little knocks on my door. I walk over to open my door and am greeted by smiling faces eager to help me set up for the day. I am the luckiest teacher in the world to have students who want to be in school even before the day begins.
Our classroom has a variety of fiction and non-fiction books that promote and teach about racial equity.
It is so important that my students have access to those books in and out of the classroom. For now, our books are traveling back and forth from home to school in flimsy plastic bags. Unfortunately, those bags tear easily, leaving the books unprotected. Books are getting damaged, and the book bags I am requesting are the perfect solution. With the new bags, my students can transport multiple books from our class to their couches.
