Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to be hands-on, but when there aren't enough materials it is extremely frustrating to them. "Music gives wings to the mind and flight to the imagination" but without enough materials, their minds can't take flight and reach new destinations.

My students come from an area of the city that is known as being the roughest area.

The students deal with too many adult problems outside of school and are exposed to things no child should ever see. My school works towards allowing the students to be kids and strives towards helping them to reach their potential and beyond in any way we can. We work to provide them with as many opportunities as possible so that they know there is more to life than the world in their neighborhoods. All students receive free breakfast and free lunch and when they are able to become hands on in the classrooms, their hunger for learning becomes greater than their hunger for food.

My Project

In obtaining these specific items for use with iPads, the students will be able to have a safe place to store and charge the tablets. The longer charging cables enable us to place it in a safe location in the music room and the screen protectors will keep our new technology safe for many years. Using the stylus pens, students can navigate more easily through the programs that will be used on the iPads and it will help those with special needs who may have more trouble using their fingers. In addition, the recorder stickers will help students who are using the iPads to access a recorder program to remember their fingerings when they are placed on their individual charts.

Students will learn that keeping the iPads safe in the charging station with screen protectors will help to let them last longer for many more years.

It will teach them responsibility and care and even though it is only an object, we need to still be careful and respectful to all equipment and materials. Sometimes the students feel because it is not their personal item that they don't need to take care of it. These new materials will help to teach them care even when they aren't their own.
