My Students
Our students love technology. They look forward to using the laptops that we share on our floor.
My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population.
All of our students are entitled to free breakfast and lunch.
The second floor has 2nd, 3rd, and 5th graders with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who don't know the letters of the alphabet, and Regular Ed students reading as high as 6th grade level. Our students are always eager to use technology but find it difficult to keep the laptops in pristine condition.
My Project
The use of our laptop cart is a daily activity on our floor. The laptops are used by seven different classes of children throughout the week. That is roughly 210 students a day.
The laptops provide an easy technological center for students to support their math, reading, and writing, as well as give assistance in research and testing.
The passing out of the laptops is a tedious job which does has it mishaps. After spending 3 days of cleaning up our laptop cart and finding dents, scratches, and missing keys, my class of second graders made a decision, "Protect our Technology!".
