The students I teach are energetic sixth graders who have a passion for hands-on learning. The more active I can make a lesson, the more they seem to engage. I strive to include movement and peer interaction with every lesson I present.
I drive about twenty-five miles north of my house to teach at a very special school tucked away in the Arizona desert.
My students come from homes scattered about the beautiful surrounding hills and need to be bused in. They represent all walks of life and know the importance of hard work.
These students have an exceptional interest in social studies. They love learning and discussing history, as well as politics. When I can tie a reading or writing assignment to these topics, they produce amazing work. I have learned much from listening to their perspective.
My Project
Students need to be able to dig into our novel study units when we get to go back to school. They love the oppotunity to read those amazing books that are waiting. Sadly, paper items are currently exposed to dust, humidity and pests.
Protecting precious learning materials now, will save us from replacing them later.
The sealed bins will hold a collection of student novels, study materials and the paper packets that we use for reading and writing intervention.
We can't wait until the day comes that we use them in person!
