This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Not having a home playing field or a safe space to swing for the fences hasn't affected our dedication, determination and heart. Help us become champions while being safe. Our very first girls' softball middle school team, who dare to start from the bottom, need four softball helmets designed for girls.

My young middle school students have endured in life what most adults have yet to experience, but they still have the courage to continue on.

Battling an environment plagued with poverty, drugs and gang violence, our school strives to provide these students with hope and inspire them to succeed. These young, brilliant minds have become shackled to the ideologies of poverty. Teachers at our school have dedicated their lives to liberate them so they can be free. Our newly formed girls' softball has given our female students the opportunity to be active in a productive manner. It has given them the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, giving them a sense of family which most of the girls don't have.

My Project

The resources donated to the Lady Tigers will protect our girls' heads while they are batting during practice and season games. Our present helmets are not designed for females which make them difficult to wear. Helmets are usually too tight or worn half way. Helmets specifically designed for females with hair will give the girls the edge that they need to fully concentrate on batting, while not worrying about if the helmet is going to fall off subsequent swinging.

The obstacle of having too much hair to fit into a helmet will cease to exist.

Resources donated will help my young athletes gain confidence, determination and self-esteem, becoming successful leaders and team builders in all that they do. They will share a culture that emphasizes pride and team spirit.
