This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 24 enthusiastic first grade readers in my classroom. My readers range from beginning to grade level and above. Throughout my years as a teacher I have been adding books to our classroom library. Each morning, my students get to choose a book that suits their reading level and read it throughout the day. When they are not reading their book, they keep it in their desk.
As you know, first graders are not the most organized and as they go in and out of their desk throughout the day, our library books get torn and pages get bent.
If the students had their own personal bin, they would be able to keep their library book in it and the book will not get damaged. The bins will help prolong the life of our classroom books.
More than half of students from low‑income households
