This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students have risen from many obstacles in life to get to this point. They are in a place where they are striving to do what is right, despite the constant pulls in the opposite direction. These students are eager to find personal successes and share them with those around them.
These students, this school year, will be able to show what they learn through engagement in every day tasks.
What they accomplish this year will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
My Project
My current desk has no drawers or locks. It is simply a table on wheels (it really is a desk).
My students need to have a safe place that I can lock up work and other papers that contain personal information.
This is important for abiding by FERPA laws. Having this desk would make it easier to abide by said laws and still have the information readily available to assist my students.
This desk will also help to build the trust between me and the students as they see that I am careful about their personal information and make sure not to leave it in an open space.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
