I work in an inner-city school where most of my students come from low-income households. The neighborhoods where my students are from surround them with poverty and still my students come to school ready to learn. Their little minds are still full of wonder and curiosity and want to explore as much as possible.
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My Project
The building of fine motor skills is so very important in Kindergarten. One of the main activities used to build fine motor skills is writing. To foster the skill of writing in my students, I want to have the best writing utensils for available for them and myself.
Kindergarten students love to write!
Kindergarten is where most children begin to write letters, words and stories. Sometimes this is very difficult for little learners due to the writing utensils they have.
In order to teach my students the proper way to grip a pencil I need to offer a variety of pencil types as well as opportunities for students to write. The different pencils will give all students in my class the proper writing tool for writing at their skill level. The class journals will give my students writing journals to practice their writing skills with.
