Help me give my students an incentive for passing the state exams and propel them forward into college.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lockard's classroom raised $404
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students attend one of the more ethnically diverse schools in Philadelphia. 100% of our students receive free lunch. 23 percent of the school's population are special needs students. About 20 percent of the student body are English Language Learners. These students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Chinese, and Arabic.
Many students have had inconsistent schooling due to various reasons that have put them at an academic disadvantage.
These students are still members of our society that need to be reconnected to education and learning.
My Project
Our school has over 1700 students. In the fall of 2018 only 12 of our eligible students had passed all three state Keystone exams (Biology, Algebra, and English). These students are often overlooked as there are so many other students to motivate to catch up and encourage to continue to try even with multiple failed attempts. 5 more students passed all three exams during the Winter 2019 keystone session.
The students that have been successful should be celebrated and encouraged to continue to excel.
To help aid in their instruction and to provide an incentive to help encourage other students to continue to try, I am requesting tablets to give to those additional students to use throughout the day in their classes. I am requesting yellow tablets and black cases as they are our school colors.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
