This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are entering the 8th grade and are striving to become independent learners while cultivating a love of literacy. Many do not have the technology to do this effectively. Your donation will help to motivate our students to become their personal best.

My Project

We promoted the love of literacy and independent reading at our library media center through an initiative called, Read2B during this past school year and it continued throughout the summer. Our hope is to help our students cultivate a love of reading and encourage them read on their own. Students learned how to access eBooks but many of our students do not have the appropriate technology that we often take for granted. We would like to award iPads to students as a reward for reading during the summer months. This will allow them to continue to read independently and hopefully make it easier for them to complete their assignments during this challenging time.
