it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Title 1 School our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. Each child deserves to feel seen, respected, and celebrated. To help foster a more inclusive and empathetic learning environment, I am requesting a collection of books from the A Kid’s Book About series.
These thoughtfully written, age-appropriate books cover important topics like racism, empathy, disabilities, gender identity, and belonging.
They are designed to open up honest, empowering conversations with young learners—conversations that help children better understand themselves and each other.
In our diverse classroom community, these books will be used during morning meetings, read-alouds, and social-emotional learning lessons to build compassion, respect, and connection. For many of my students, this will be the first time they see their stories reflected in books—or learn about perspectives they may not have encountered before.
With your support, we can create a safe, inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and heard. These books will help lay the foundation for kindness, understanding, and inclusive leadership—skills that will serve our students for life.
