My Students

The Unified Basketball program at Green Mountain High School allows all students with special needs to participate and compete in a team sport. The students that participate in this program develop self-confidence, team unity, and a competitive spirit.

The Unified program does not receive any funding from the district.

We are completely reliant on the community for their generous contributions so we can provide our special needs students with this opportunity. Everyone engaged in the program volunteers their time for this rewarding experience. The participation in this program allows athletes with all disabilities to play competitive basketball. The Unified Basketball program offers every student equal play time and each player contributes to the overall success of the team. This program teaches these young athletes how to set achievable goals and to work to reach them all in a fun and supportive way.

My Project

We are requesting 12 basketballs and a portable cart to transport the equipment to the various games. Given today's economic times, we have not been able to afford equipment for these special needs athletes. We currently have to schedule our games when the equipment is not being used. Purchasing our own equipment will give these unique athletes more time to practice and work as a team.

The Unified Basketball program gives the special needs basketball players a chance to shine and showcase their athletic abilities.

The benefits of being part of a team extend beyond the basketball court into their daily lives.
