Promote Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills!!!

My students need educational games that promote critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as promoting a positive class atmosphere.

My Students

The three schools where I teach are very diverse with students from all over the world. My students enjoy reading, project-based learning activities, robotics and being creative. I have the unique opportunity to teach Horizons, a gifted class, for 3 different schools. My students shine when I bring Legos or electronic kits into a lesson about animals or problem solving skills. With our students' economic backgrounds, they don't get many opportunities at home to interact with materials to encourage creative thinking.

My Project

I have found that in the classroom students tend to struggle with critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving. In my class, we really try to help students develop these skills. With this being my first year teaching gifted and talented students, I have found that critical thinking educational games are an extremely effective tool.

My students look forwards to Challenge Time each day so they can engage in exciting critical thinking games!

With this grant, each of my three schools will have engaging critical thinking games in the school. Now I have to transport materials between three different schools. Not only would these resources be used in the gifted and talented classroom, but other teacher could check them out for their students too.

I believe these resources are critical for creating students who are ready for the tech savvy world that we live in. The skills that students develop playing these games are significant to their growth. To many times our students go home and watch tv or play video games. With you help we can create students who enjoy to think, learn, and create!
