My Students
I am the math inclusion special education teacher in a rural high school. The school has over 1,000 students that range from 9th to 12th graders in courses from Algebra I up to Advanced Mathematical Decision Making.
The math inclusion class setting allows students who need extra support, in math, to receive the services without having to be pulled out of the classroom.
Current district data indicates that students entering into the 9th-grade struggle with mathematical problem-solving. As a new teacher, my goal is to increase student achievement in the math department.
My Project
Our students are blessed to have access to Smartboards in the classroom. These boards allow them be actively engaged in the lesson. Some of our boards are touch screen but most are not. We are issued one pen for each classroom.
I am asking for digital pens to give the students access to a higher level of learning in the classroom.
The boards have features for more than one writer at a time. This allows for two students to work side by side on a problem. Our students enjoy be active in the classroom. Additional pens in each classroom will help facilitate their yearning to learn.
