My Students
Learning in school is not what it was when I was a student (a few years ago). It continuously changes and one of the biggest differences is the use of technology. My students deserve to have technology in their classroom.
My students are 5th graders of an inner city school district in Pennsylvania.
The district they attend is 90% free and reduced lunch and 90% minority. The school they attend is full of over 800 Pre-K through 8th grade students. Although, their environment may be less than desirable to most, the students are eager to learn and look forward to coming to school. My class is full of passionate, energetic, creative, enduring and ambitious students. They enjoy writing, acting out plays, researching on the computer, reading both fiction and nonfiction text, solving problems and working together.
My Project
The students will learn how to save data to a USB drive in order to compile a complete project over time. Once the project is completed, each student will be able to pull up their file from the USB drive on the laptop. Through the laptop, the project will be sent to the projector to be projected on the screen for the entire class to see.
Having a laptop and projector in the classroom will enable the students to take pride in and share their hard work with the class. They will be able to project their published writings large enough for the entire class to enjoy. Each student will be able to give an oral speech for their presentations too.
As a teacher, I will now be able to present information and review games through the projector to bring excitement to learning.
A laptop, projector and USB drives are everyday elements in most classrooms.
My students deserve an equal education to the students in other districts. My students will use them on a regular basis for many lessons.
