My Project

Hello lovely DonorsChoose community! I have created this new project to ask for your help in getting a projector for my students. In the spring I like to teach a big unit on musical theater and show the kids clips from various (age appropriate) shows. I do this with the kindergarteners specifically because starting in first grade they will have the opportunity to participate in the school musical at our elementary school complex. I try to introduce them to the concept of singing and dancing to tell a story and get them excited about trying it themselves. We watch clips from Shreck the Musical, Aladdin, Frozen the Musical and many more to introduce vocabulary like choreography, theater, and acting. My kids love the musical theater unit and my colleagues at the elementary schools say it has helped to increase interest in joining the musical over the last several years.

I am asking for a projector to ensure that all students I teach have the opportunity to learn about musical theater and get excited for next year's program.

I travel from room to room to teach music and many classrooms in my building have a mounted projector and smartboard. The problem is that there are several rooms where either the projector is broken or missing altogether. Although this issue affects a limited number of classes I believe that all children deserve the opportunity to fall in love with musical theater. In order to ensure equal opportunities for all my students I am hoping you will help me get a projector so I can bring the musical theater to every classroom I visit.
