Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students are back in the art room for the first time in two years, and we couldn't be more excited! As much as they "ooh" and "ahh" as I demonstrate new art-making techniques for each lesson, our current set-up is not the most ideal. Without a document camera to project these demonstrations onto the board, entire classes (some consisting of over 25 students) are forced to crowd around a single table to try and view these techniques.
This Elmo would ensure that each student in the room was able to safely access direct instruction, regardless of location in the room, visual impairments, or other conditions limiting proximity to others.
Visual arts is a frequently undervalued area of study, however, for many students who struggle in other academic areas this class might be their favorite and most impactful 45 minutes of the week. It is my hope that this improved quality of instruction will enhance that impact as well :)
