This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my arts and technology college-prep high school for first generation college-bound students are ready to share their digital media, talents, and achievements during our weekly community meeting assemblies.
The majority of our students come from families who are hoping to see their children be the first to graduate from college.
As educators, we are charged with the task of designing rigorous, college-prep projects that inspire the creative, technical, and critical minds of our students. Each week 250 of our students meet during joyful assemblies where we share and celebrate their work with an authentic audience. Our students respond especially well when the form is digital.
My Project
You may have taken for granted a fully stocked auditorium with lighting, staging, and curtains. We had none of this when we founded our school 6 years ago. Recently, with the help of DonorsChoose, we added a sound system and microphones to our "auditorium." But now it's time to take it to the next level. With your help we will install a high powered digital projector so that all students in the room can actually see what's being projected on the screen (student work, college-related announcements, student achievements and awards!) We will also use a doc cam to easily display student work and fliers so that the whole room can get involved.
With your support I am confident that my students will receive an equitable education and a real shot at college success.
