This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At my school, we strive to encourage our students in the classroom to remain engaged. Our students enjoy books, but often benefit from videos and other visuals to increase their understanding of the material that is presented.
Our school is a K-8th grade school in a low-income neighborhood in the South Bronx.
Our school is for students with special needs. The students are all very unique in their talents and abilities. We are encouraging our students to be as independent as possible and they thoroughly enjoy being given responsibility as well as being challenged with the academic curriculum.
My Project
During a previously funded project, I was lucky enough to have received a projector, screen and computer ink for literacy activities. Thank you to those who donated. The idea was to give students large visuals to reinforce their understanding of the curriculum. I am now asking for a Lightning Digital AV Adapter, a Mini Displayport to VGA Cable Adapter, Soft City Blocks and DVD and book copies of the The Jungle Book and The Lorax. For this project, I will use the books with DVDs to help students increase their understanding of the materials that I am presenting. The adapters are needed so that the projector may be connected to a computer in order that literacy activities can begin. Without the adapters, students are currently unable to use this fantastic equipment.
These donations will give my kids more visuals to help them understand the curriculum.
They will have fun and remain engaged. The speech room will be more adapted for students with attention and visual deficits.
