Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 100% engaged on a daily basis and always excited to learn new things. A majority of their learning is self-directed where they learn to take ownership of projects and develop problem solving skills. By the years end, not only will my students have developed the standards based content knowledge, but they will also have strong technological skills.

We are a talented school that has a mix of students across the socioeconomic range.

We are not economically low enough to be classified as a Title I school, but also not economically wealthy enough to be able to privately purchase everything that we need. My students want to be successful and they strive to achieve their best work everyday. They are 21st century learners and are more technologically advanced than previous generations. As a teacher, I want to be able to give them everything they need to support and help them compete as the best and brightest. Every day is a day to learn!

My Project

As 21st century learners, my students exists in a world filled with technology. They are constantly in a state of discovering and learning how to interact with current technology and building upon existing technology.

Each year, my students learn skills that go beyond simple projects and cooperative learning.

Student projects in my class must aspire to be interactive as well. My students need to be able to mirror their computer devices on the screen and an LED TV will allow them to do just that. Last year our HDMI projector bulb blew out and needed replacement. These projector bulbs blow out and need to be replaced regularly and cost the school hundreds of dollars to replace. The HDMI projector bulbs are never replaced because they are even more expensive.

With the TV, my students can mirror projects from their connected devices and interact with the classroom and their peers as the presentation moves along on the TV screen. Having this ability engages students immediately. These students are self-directed learners and my expectation is that they learn skills that reflect real-world experience in class that can be utilized in and out of the classroom.
