I teach Algebra, Geometry and Computer Applications to 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th graders at a large inner-city high school in a high-need community.
Our society depends on the use of technology to succeed in the business and academic worlds. There is a heavy reliance on computers. Unfortunately my school does not have the funding to provide enough computers for all my students to have their own in class. This makes it nearly impossible to integrate technology with their math education on a daily or even weekly basis. By having an LCD projector, it will allow me to demonstrate several key lesson components in all the subjects I teach to ensure all the students have the opportunity to fully learn.
I need an LCD projector for my classroom so that my inner-city students aren't deprived of a technology-rich math and computer education. Students will use PowerPoint to create slideshows and in math, we will be able to project important math concepts in order for our students to be successful in math, therefore preparing them for college.
You will make it possible for my inner-city students to have an equitable education as compared to suburban students (or well-funded urban schools). The LCD projector will increase interest and understanding of the material. Most importantly, the LCD projector is a valuable tool that will lead to their success in these classes which best prepare my students for college and their future.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
